Crude oil futures weighed down on worries of weak energy demand in the future

Crude oil futures fell under pressure as weak economic data exacerbated concerns about future energy demand.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures for November delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange fell 47 cents, or 0.9%, to close at $53.31 a barrel, according to data tracked by the Institute of purchasing plastics. WTI futures for November will expire after Tuesday's close. Brent crude oil futures fell 46 cents, or 0.8%, to $58.96 per barrel in December.
