Frankfurt, Germany (March 25, 2025) allnex, a global leader in industrial coating resins and additives, is thrilled to announce the exciting innovative CRYLCOAT® OCEAN product line based on recycled plastics.
The escalating plastic waste crisis is a pressing global concern. Despite ongoing recycling efforts, a substantial amount of the hundreds of millions of tons of plastic ends up in the natural environment including the oceans.
Traditional strategies for managing plastic waste have so far proven insufficient to address the scale of the issue. By integrating recycled plastics into powder coating resins, we not only reduce plastic waste but also create a product with enhanced properties.
allnex is using recycled plastic waste streams as building blocks for powder coating polyesters to help reduce pollution from single-use plastics. Designing our coating resins, we are able to repurpose post-consumer rPET, enabling us to respond to the requirements of green technology and we contribute to the circular economy by long term management of plastic waste.
Since our first commercial CRYLCOAT OCEAN resin was created 5 years ago, we continue to use more recycled PET, designed for industrial indoor and outdoor applications, reducing the product’s carbon footprint by up to 20%.
CRYLCOAT OCEAN resins are designed to have no difference in workability compared to traditional powder coating resins. They are suitable for powder coatings used in indoor and outdoor applications with various crosslinking chemistries including triglycidyl-isocyanurate (TGIC), b-hydroxy-alkylamide (HAA) and hybrid systems.
Our products contain rPET up to 50% with curing temperatures as low as 160? C with various grades from indoor, to standard durable, to super durable. Region-specific offerings are available, and we are able to supply from multiple locations globally.
