HZ info:Global New Material International stood out among hundreds of Chinese and European companies at the second Sino-European Corporate ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Best Practice Conference held in Stuttgart, Germany on June 26th, 2025. Owing to its outstanding practices in "technological innovation drives green development" and "sustainable governance system construction", GNMI won the "Best Case for Technological Innovation" award. This is not only a deep recognition of corporate responsibility and innovation, but also a demonstration of the confident posture and strategic vision of Chinese enterprises in global ESG governance practices.
This conference brought together leaders from the political, business and academic circles of China, Germany and Europe, aiming to build a platform for high-quality cooperation between Chinese and European enterprises and jointly explore the path to global sustainable development. As one of the representatives of Chinese entrepreneurs, Su Ertian, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global New Material International, was invited to deliver a keynote speech titled "Responsibility · Innovation · Symbiosis", comprehensively showcasing the responsibility practice and cultural expression of Chinese new materials enterprises on the global ESG stage.
Responsibility: moving from 'financial optimality' to 'on-site choice'
In his speech, Su Ertian used the Guangxi production base as an example to vividly illustrate the true meaning of corporate "responsibility". Faced with the reality that the factory roof did not have the conditions for photovoltaic installation, the company resolutely chose to invest in the reconstruction of the steel structure roof and install a 5.9-megawatt photovoltaic system, reducing carbon emissions by more than 5,000 tons annually. This decision is not the "best financial solution", but the "on-site choice" for the green commitment.
In addition, the company has long been committed to employee health protection, setting up counseling area, fitness center and health check-up program, and promoting "human sustainability" as part of its corporate culture. "Responsibility should not just be written in the report, but in the invisible but perceptible choices," Su Ertian stressed.
Innovation: achieving the "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" with synthetic mica
Facing the global challenge of the unsustainability of natural mica resources, GNMI has taken the lead in breaking through its own synthetic technology and successfully developed high-purity synthetic mica that is environmentally friendly, stable and functional, and is widely used in green industries such as new energy batteries, automotive coatings and electronic chemicals.
Furthermore, GNMI has introduced pearlescent materials into building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) application scenarios, making building facades not only aesthetically valuable but also capable of generating electricity effectively, achieving a dual empowerment of "favorable appearance + green production". "ESG is not a cost, but the most powerful catalyst for innovation," Su Ertian said. True technological innovation not only solves problems but also reshapes the future."
Symbiosis: showing Chinese enterprise’s global stance in transnational integration
Su Ertian pointed out in his speech that the company was currently advancing the deep integration of Merck Group's surface solutions business, involving multiple business units such as Germany, the United States, and Japan. In response, Global New Material International adhered to the principle of "no replication, no replacement", but "co-construct and reach consensus", retaining the original team, maintaining the original structure, strengthening cross-cultural communication mechanisms, and promoting "trust first" global collaboration.
"Symbiosis is not concept, but capability." This trust-based integration approach not only served as a reference for cooperation between Chinese and European enterprises, but also gradually became a new paradigm for Chinese enterprises to go global, Su Ertian said.
Trustworthy, respectable and mutually beneficial: A new calling card for Chinese enterprises
At the end of his speech, Su Ertian said affectionately, "We certainly value market share and return on capital, but what we value more is whether Chinese companies can win the identity of 'trustworthy, respectable and mutually beneficial' in the global value system. This is a more far-reaching strategic value, "he said.
This award is not only a recognition of GNMI in terms of technology and responsibility, but also a mutual trust across cultures and regions. In the wave of green transformation, GNMI is willing to take innovation as the sail and responsibility as the rudder, and work with global partners to explore more "Chinese answers" in the ESG era.
