It is reported that both parties will carry out in-depth collaborative innovation in the field of water-based resin materials, integrate advantageous resources, achieve technological breakthroughs and product upgrades, jointly respond to the challenges brought by environmental regulations and market demand changes, and work together to promote the green and high-quality development of the water-based resin materials industry.

This cooperation coincides with the release of newly revised mandatory national standards by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. On May 30, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized the revision of mandatory national standards GB30981.1-2025 "Limits of Hazardous Substances in Coatings Part 1: Architectural Coatings" and GB30981.2-2025 "Limits of Hazardous Substances in Coatings Part 2: Industrial Coatings". This standard will be officially implemented on June 1, 2026, aiming to implement the requirements of the "Key Control New Pollutant List (2023 Edition)", strictly control the content of harmful substances in coatings, reduce environmental pollution, improve the environmental performance of products, and promote the green and high-quality development of the coating industry.

In this context, BATF and Syensqo jointly developed a new type of emulsion for coatings with the breakthrough of "Zeroing SVOC emulsion solution project for coatings" to comprehensively improve the environmental performance and market competitiveness of coatings. In the future, both parties will focus on core tracks such as the development of high-performance environmentally friendly resins and low VOC emission solutions, using technological breakthroughs to help customers cope with the upgrading of environmental regulations and changes in market demand, and jointly provide the industry with higher quality and more environmentally friendly solutions.

According to HZ info, Syensqo showcased innovative additive products from the Syensqo ECS platform during the 2025 European Coatings Exhibition. Among them, Rhodoline's various product combinations left a deep impression on the global coatings industry. It is reported that Syensqo will cooperate with BATF to develop multifunctional surfactants and other products to help further reduce the film forming temperature of emulsion and reduce the freezing and thawing risks of products, which will fundamentally improve the performance of coating products and have great significance for product quality breakthrough.

As an important supplier in the field of emulsion and additives respectively, the cooperation between BATF and Syensqo is valuable because of their irreplaceable complementary advantages. The moat of BATF lies in scale and local innovation. It has eight production bases in Zhongshan, Guangdong, Changzhou, Jiangsu, etc. Its annual production capacity of water-based emulsion has exceeded one million tons, accounting for more than 35% of the domestic market. What is even more rare is its ability to industrialize its technology. Recently, BATF and Shanghai University announced that they will jointly develop organic/inorganic hybrid technology and carry out industrial development. The core competitiveness of Syensqo lies in its accumulation in the field of specialty chemicals. Lotte Troen, Global Vice President of Coatings and Industrial Solutions at Syensqo, expressed in their cooperation speech that they look forward to achieving resource sharing and complementary advantages through deep cooperation, and jointly promoting technological innovation and green development in the water-based resin industry.
