RPM International strengthens its Rust-Oleum portfolio with the acquisition of Ready Seal, a Texas-based manufacturer of premium exterior wood stains. The move aims to expand the Consumer Group’s reach in the growing segment of exterior wood care products.
RPM International Inc. has announced the acquisition of Ready Seal Inc., a Texas-based producer of high-performance exterior wood stains and sealers. The deal brings Ready Seal under the umbrella of Rust-Oleum, part of RPM’s Consumer Group. Ready Seal is known for its “Goof-Proof” technology, which allows the stain-and-sealer-in-one product to be applied easily in various weather conditions without leaving lap marks or requiring back brushing.
The Texas company reported sales of approximately USD 45 million (around EUR 42 million) in calendar year 2024. Although the transaction’s financial details remain undisclosed, the acquisition is expected to enhance Rust-Oleum’s market presence among professional contractors and DIY enthusiasts alike.
Synergies and growth potential
Frank C. Sullivan, CEO of RPM, emphasised that the addition of Ready Seal’s product line will strengthen Rust-Oleum’s competitive position in the exterior wood care category. By integrating Ready Seal’s offerings, Rust-Oleum aims to leverage its established sales force and distribution channels to accelerate growth.
This strategic step aligns with RPM’s broader goal of expanding its Consumer Group with innovative, user-friendly products that meet rising demand in the exterior wood care segment. Ready Seal’s employees will join the RPM family, supporting further development of the brand’s presence in North America.
