Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, announced the launch of a new line of polymer flame retardant (FR) additives that can improve FR performance in end-use products to help meet increasingly strict product safety regulations in polyethylene (PE) applications. Formulated with non-halogenated flame retardants, these new Cesa™ MAX Flame Retardant additives are especially useful for applications where limiting excessive smoke and fumes are primary requirements.
Developed to enable manufacturers to meet or exceed current safety requirements in their applications, the new Cesa MAX FR Additives can help end-use products pass numerous increasingly stringent UL 94 standard test methods. This includes meeting UL94 V0-V1-V2, 5VA, and 5VB compliance standards. Also, as demonstrated by Avient’s internal testing in its accredited A2LA Corporate Analytical Testing & Characterization Lab, the Cesa MAX FR additives can provide significantly lower heat release rates over time compared to conventional flame retardants, potentially limiting fire spread and damage.
Avient’s new Cesa™ MAX Flame Retardant Additives are a non-halogenated solution for stringent FR testing requirements.
“Our new Cesa MAX FR additives incorporate non-halogenated flame retardants at our highest achievable loading levels of fire safety performance ingredients in a single masterbatch,” said Felipe Reichert, Global Marketing Director for Color, Additives & Inks at Avient Corporation. “This provides tremendous versatility for customers who need to meet various fire safety standards across different applications.”
Cesa MAX FR additives are formulated without halogen flame retardants that contain bromine or chlorine. They are compatible with a comprehensive range of PE resins and can be customized for specific performance and application needs within the building & construction, consumer goods, appliances, transportation, or electronics industries. Formulated with optimized let-down ratios for a cost-effective solution, they are produced at several locations throughout the United States and can be provided to customers in small lot samples for easy integration into a production process.
