The Green Impact Pioneer Award recognizes European enterprises operating in China that have been pioneers in environmental sustainability, introducing innovative solutions or practices that deliver a positive impact on the environment. The jury honored BASF Coatings’ CathoGuard® 800RE cathodic electrodepsition coating (e-coat) for delivering measurable environmental and operational benefits in automotive coatings. The technology reduces freshwater use by up to 68% per vehicle, lowers CO2?equivalent emissions by approximately 8% and improves material efficiency by up to 20%, while meeting stringent safety and regulatory requirements.

“CathoGuard® 800RE is the tangible result of close, hands-on collaboration with our OEM partners, combined with the dedication of our global e-coat technology team, who validated this solution on customers’ lines while continuously going above and beyond to deliver best-in-class performance worldwide,” says Dr. Audrée Andersen, Director, Global E-Coat Technology at BASF Coatings. “This comprehensive excellence not only supports BASF Coatings’ sustainability priorities but also helps our customers meet ambitious Scope 1 and operational targets, advancing more sustainable manufacturing across the automotive value chain.”
