HZ info2026-02-26 08:56
Sika has confirmed plans to acquire Akkim, a Turkey-based adhesives and sealants manufacturer, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening its position in high-growth markets and expanding production capabilities.
This acquisition represents a significant step in Sika’s Strategy 2028, which focuses on expanding its adhesives and sealants business, strengthening distribution channels, and increasing geographic reach. Akkim’s established presence in high-growth markets such as Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa positions Sika to leverage substantial growth opportunities in these regions. Akkim, a family-owned company, achieved net sales of approximately EUR 209 million in 2025. Its robust product portfolio, serving the construction sector, is built on proprietary formulations developed by a skilled R&D team. The company operates two large-scale manufacturing facilities in Turkey and Romania, with additional capacity being added through a new site in Turkey. These strategically located facilities are expected to serve as production and export hubs for a broad geographic area, enabling operational efficiency and growth potential.
Strengthened market presence and production capacity
The acquisition aligns with Sika’s aim to enhance its adhesives and sealants offering, particularly for the distribution channel. Akkim’s deep expertise in channel management and its extensive distribution network will significantly expand Sika’s customer access and unlock cross-selling opportunities for complementary solutions such as repair mortars and waterproofing systems. Akkim’s facilities will complement Sika’s existing production infrastructure, creating a highly efficient operational footprint for distribution-focused adhesives and sealants. The combined production capacity will support long-term growth while ensuring streamlined export capabilities across diverse markets.
Strategic alignment with Sika’s 2028 goals
Sika’s Strategy 2028 places a strong emphasis on accelerating growth in the adhesives and sealants market. Akkim’s established expertise and distribution network make it a valuable addition to Sika’s portfolio. The acquisition is expected to enhance Sika’s competitiveness in retail and e-commerce channels while providing a solid foundation for further regional expansion. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2026. Once completed, the acquisition will reinforce Sika’s position as a global leader in adhesives and sealants, offering tailored solutions to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
